Power Summit 2008

The event focused on power markets and project development
for hydropower development in Nepal.

Independent Power Producers' Association, Nepal (IPPAN), Nepal India Chamber of Commerce and Industry (NICCI), and Power Trading Corporation (PTC), India Limited Nepal jointly organized Power Summit 2008 during September 23-24 in Kathmandu with the motto “Harnessing Power” and theme “Power Markets and Project Development “.The summit brought together the relevant stakeholders, policy makers, from both Nepal and India to discuss on power markets and project development.
The main objectives of the summit were to explore the areas of cooperation between two countries for hydropower development; to discuss the technical support for the identified projects; the risks of investing in the hydropower sector; the approaches on mitigating such risks; the power trading opportunities between two countries and to create a common platform for meeting between potential developers and investors.
The two day event brought together relevant stakeholders from India and Nepal for focused discussions and deliberations of the subject. Key officials and decision makers from the Government of Nepal and Industry Associations attended the event. The Summit had 6 technical sessions on various related areas.
